Professor Gary A. Robbins was awarded a University of Connecticut, Chancellor's Information Technology Award for the development of Expedited Site Assessment: The CD on November 7, 2001 at ceremonies ending a day long meeting on Information Technology. The Award was created to bring awareness of innovation and best practice in the use of IT by UConn faculty and staff to the University community. The award does not simply reward the use of technology. It seeks out significant advances in teaching, learning, research and service that have come about specifically because of creative applications of computing and networking services. Furthermore, it recognizes individuals who have put substantial time and/or imagination into innovative uses of technology as applied to the University mission. "I have many people to thank for their efforts, especially my former graduate students who did most of the science that underlies the CD," said Dr. Robbins on being given the award. |
